VE Dolphins Swim Team

Dolphin Families!!! It’s almost time for our 2nd AWAY meet. We will be swimming against the Heritage Oaks Torpedoes.

***Please read all the information below, Especially concerning Parking, Arrival and Food.

There is alot of information in this one. There are special notes at the beginning AND the end. So please read over the WHOLE thing

*** First, Please have your swimmer check in with coaches the minute they arrive and pick up their event sheet. By them picking up their sheet, we know they are THERE.  Please remind them to find the coaches and check in.

***THERE IS NO PRACTICE ON  THURSDAY JUNE 19. WE OBSERVE JUNETEENTH.

***I have the photos!!! They look good.  I will have them at fun swim on Wed 9-11. I suggest parents walk in and get them vs relying on kids. they are not in plastic, and we are not responsible if they get wet.

***PARKING- Parking is rough at HO. the parking lot by the pool will be blocked off. RESV and handicapped only.

Helmswood Circle will be switched to a ONE WAY street starting at 4pm

(once again, do not arrive prior to 4:30) All street parking is restricted to to one side of the road ( sidewalk side). Please do not block any driveways, directly across from driveways, or mailboxes. Also, please utilize the one way direction when exiting from the meet

__________

What: Away Meet VE Dolphins vs HO Torpedoes

When: Tues. June 17

Where: Heritage Oaks Pool 118 Helmswood Circle. Marietta GA 30065

Time: The parking at HO is a little on the challenging side. They have also requested no one arrive before 4:30. We warm up at 5:30. The meet begins at 6pm. See above notes for instructions. Please allow yourself plenty of time to park and walk.

If you signed up to swim, PLEASE SHOW UP and stay for ALL of your events.

Volunteers: If you are scheduled to volunteer, please reference the email that Jennifer Lucas, Volunteer Coordinator, will send with specific information about what time to arrive and where to check in. If you have any questions or concerns about your volunteer job, please work with Jennifer Lucas directly.

Theme: Pajama Jam

What to Bring: Black Sharpie, extra pair of goggles (they do break and get lost), swim cap if you use one (no swim caps promoting any school are allowed in competition), two towels, sweatshirt, SPF, bug spray. Cash or Credit Card for concessions.

BUG SPRAY AND AFTERBITE. It is very woodsy around the HO pool.

If you have younger swimmers, toys or games to entertain them in the bullpen while they wait for their event.

What not to Bring: NO ALCOHOL. Do NOT bring it. If alcohol is found. We can be fined and the meet forfeited.

Bullpen: Our Bullpens will be set up by the baby pool

There is a bullpen for 5-6 year olds and one for 7-8 year olds. When the 5-8 old swimmers arrive at the pool, after checking in with the coaches, they should immediately go to the Bullpen area, where a bullpen parent will check the swimmer in.

There is no Bullpen for 9yr olds and up. It will be the swimmers/parents responsibility to make sure your swimmer is lined up and on time for their events. Please do not make us look for your child.

Weather: At the moment there is only a 30% chance in the forecast. We will swim in the rain. We will take 30-minute breaks for lightning or thunder. Please wait in your car and stay on premises. Bring toys to entertain kids in the car. Please do not leave the meet especially if you are in a relay. The only people who can call the swim meet is the combination of Julie/Aileen, the Heritage Oaks coordinator and the official. All three parties must agree on if/when to cancel the meet. Only Julie/Aileen are allowed to speak with the official according to the CSSL manual. We will try to swim to avoid reschedule.

Concessions: As informed in previous email. HO does their concessions a little differently. We were advised to use the sign up genius I sent out to pre order food. If you were unable to do so, there will be additional food available until it runs out. They don't cook onsite like we do. I suggest this is the meet you throw some snacks in the car.

Events: Once the meet is fully prepared, you should be able to view your child’s events in SwimTopia. When your swimmer checks in at the pool deck, the coaches will give him/her a slip of paper with the events and help your child mark up their arms/legs.

A Few additional things I want to mention.

*** THERE IS NO STROKE CLINIC AFTER FUN SWIM ON WED.

*** Ribbons from meets will be ready on fun day. They can be picked up in the ribbon box by the pool deck. I noticed yesterday there are several ribbons that have not been picked up.

***Fun Day -6/18 9-11am lifeguards, doughnuts, slide. NO SIBLINGS

*** We all like to win. But let’s remember good sportsmanship as well. Let us all remember to be kind hosts, gracious guests and good sports.

Questions: If I have missed anything or you have additional questions. Please reach out. The email is checked frequently.

Thank you,

Carole
